Forgive me, (insert name of your favorite authority figure here), for I have sinned. It's been over three months since my last blog entry...
Okay, folks, I'm dog tired of writing about our homeschool adventures. Maybe the novelty has worn off, or maybe I just don't feel I have to justify each and every little detail of our homeschooling day. Does that mean that our adventuring will soon come to an end? Of course not! We're continuing our trek and just not saying much about it online.
Having said all that, I shall now contradict myself ever so slightly and post Z's results from the California Standardized Testing and Reporting exam he took in this spring. I still feel that it's important for others to know I'm not keeping him in dark basement, teaching him how to become a mole, and that his scores reflect that Z is being taught academics according to state standards and is able to demonstrate his knowledge on multiple guess forms.
So here goes nothing:
Continue reading "Bored with Blogging!!!"School is OUT!!! Finally. No more logging in time spent on individual subjects, no set order for the day, and no more worrying if we'll get everything done. We finished what was required and scrapped what wasn't. And I have no major complaints with the charter school or our assigned teacher - she rocks!! Ha, she even complimented me (and Miss W) several times throughout the year on how organized and well prepared we were. Yeah, we hot. (sizzle, sizzle.) The best part is that Z is ready to move on to middle school and E to first grade. Woohoo!! We made it through another year! Of course, we've been celebrating by barely lifting a pencil or cracking open a book all week -- started our mental vacation a wee bit early. Shhhh. It's a secret.
On the birthday scene, I baked the second layer to Z's cake and cooked up some ice cream to go with. If all goes well, we'll freeze in our brand new PINK ice cream maker. No, Hello Kitty doesn't have an ice cream maker out, but it's the right shade of pink to blend in well with the Hello Kitty appliances that we already own. Z let it slip that E was bummed that I didn't make ice cream for his birthday. I took E aside and told that I didn't know that the pink ice cream maker existed. Had I known, we would have been making ice cream long ago. He understood perfectly, bless his little fuzzy head.
Posted by Mama at 10:17 PMBoth offspring devoured my practice cake (and I didn't tell them that I used fake sugar). I'm very happy with this because it means that I don't have to run out and buy a cak. I can't stand store-bought cake for kiddies. You know, the stuff made with Crisco "butter cream." They're so icky.
I started Z with Typing Instructor Deluxe today. He was so excited that he danced around the room while the software loaded. He even had a hard time sitting still during the first lesson. "I'm typing! I'm typing!" You would've thought that he was learning to drive a Maserati or something magical. Crazy kid. I wonder if he'll be this excited when he has to do real writing assignments on the puter? [shrug]
I ran into L at the library yesterday. I forgot to call her about getting together next week so I can make a date to dome our homeschooling stuff to her. Dang. And I forgot to invite her to Z's party, too. Double dang. I'll still have time to do all that tomorrow if I don't forget again. Think, think, think...
