Hmmm... Just noticed that this weblog looks all screwy in Internet Explorer. Some of the side bar links are gone. Poof! Don't know what the hell it's about, whether I can fix, or even if I care. I haven't gotten that far, yet. Just now that if you're reading this with IE, stop and please use a different browser until I can figure out how to rid myself of the bad browser pixies.
Z isn't playing guitar all that much these days. Maybe he's done with that phase of his life, or like me, jumps into projects if and when it suits him. Hmm... whatever.
I practiced a new cake recipe outta this month's issue of Bon Appetit which I doctored before I tried the recipe as written. I substituted Splenda Sugar Blend for Baking (half Splenda sugar substitute and half sugar) in place of the regular sugar. Then, because I didn't have any whole milk and didn't feel like going to the store to get some, I used a combination of 1 part cream to 3 parts 2% fat milk instead of whole milk as called for in the recipe. My last fix was adding a bit of baking powder as leavening since the egg whites I used came out of a cartoon. See, those horrible muscusy things that come in a carton lose some of their lifting power due to pasteurization. One of these days, I'll make a recipe as it is written and not fool with it, but not today.
I wonder if Z will be able to taste the difference. Ha - NO!!! The cake is just too yummy and creamy-flavored; denser than the one in the magazine, but very tender and buttery. Yup, this'll do it. He won't know that I've changed a thing especially after the cake is frosted and covered with fruit. [grin]
